You don’t have to buy a SIM from Vodafone to use its network. Several lower-cost mobile brands run on Vodafone infrastructure — but their prices, roaming rules and extras can be very different.
The main names are Lebara, Asda Mobile, Talkmobile and VOXI. Ofcom currently lists all four as providers that use Vodafone’s network.
There is a 2026 wrinkle, though. Vodafone UK and Three UK are now part of the same company, VodafoneThree, and their infrastructure is being brought together as The Nation’s Network. That does not mean every brand has identical access or identical plan features, so it is still worth comparing the specific SIM.

Lebara
Lebara is one of the clearest Vodafone alternatives if low prices, international minutes or roaming matter to you.
Lebara says its UK service runs on Vodafone’s network and that 5G is included on its plans. It also advertises no annual price rises on SIM-only plans. Roam Like Home currently lets customers use eligible UK allowances while travelling in the EU/EEA and India, with a data fair-use limit.
Lebara is not Vodafone with a different logo. It buys network access and sells its own plans, so pricing, customer support, international minutes, roaming rules and other extras are Lebara’s.
Lebara is worth a look if you want:
flexible SIM-only pricing and Vodafone-based coverage;
5G and international minutes on eligible plans;
EU/EEA and India roaming on eligible plans;
no annual SIM-only price rises under its current policy.
Talkmobile is more closely tied to Vodafone because it is part of VodafoneThree. Its current SIM plans include 4G, 5G and Wi‑Fi Calling. Talkmobile also says all of its plans come with no annual price rises and includes roaming in 47 European destinations, with a fair-use data limit.
The Vodafone–Three merger makes Talkmobile more interesting than the old label “cheap Vodafone MVNO” suggests. VodafoneThree’s consumer brand portfolio includes Vodafone, Three, VOXI, SMARTY and Talkmobile, with the long-term network being built around combined infrastructure.
Talkmobile is worth a look if you want:
low-cost SIM-only plans with 30-day or 12-month options;
VOXI is another VodafoneThree brand, but its proposition is different. Its plans are rolling subscriptions and it offers unlimited data use for selected social, music or video services on eligible plans. VOXI currently describes itself as running on The Nation’s Network, the combined Vodafone and Three network. Its plans also support Wi‑Fi Calling and eSIM.
Travellers should pay attention to roaming. Standard VOXI plans do not simply include free roaming across most of Europe. For many European destinations, customers need a European Roaming Pass.
Asda Mobile
Ofcom lists Asda Mobile among the providers using Vodafone’s network. Its current SIM pages go a step further and advertise benefits from the Vodafone and Three networks as the combined network develops. Current Asda Mobile plans also include 5G, and the provider sells both flexible monthly options and longer SIM-only contracts.
Using the same underlying infrastructure does not mean every feature is identical to buying directly from Vodafone. Roaming allowances, eSIM support, contract terms, speed policies and extras can differ by provider and plan.
Vodafone vs a Vodafone-based provider: what’s actually different?
Sometimes a smaller provider is simply cheaper for the amount of data you need. But “uses Vodafone” does not mean “identical to Vodafone”. The differences can include 5G access, technical policies and performance, Wi‑Fi Calling and eSIM, roaming, customer service and extras such as international minutes or zero-rated data.
Roaming is one of the biggest differences: Lebara includes roaming in the EU/EEA and India on eligible plans; Talkmobile includes European roaming under its current terms; VOXI generally requires a roaming pass for many European destinations. The network underneath matters, but it is only one part of the deal.
Do Vodafone MVNOs get the same coverage?
They use Vodafone infrastructure, so the Vodafone footprint is the starting point. Vodafone says its 4G network covers more than 99% of UK homes. VodafoneThree is progressively combining Vodafone and Three infrastructure, but independent providers should not automatically be assumed to receive every network feature at the same time.
Before switching, check coverage for the places where you actually use your phone — home, work and regular travel routes. Ofcom explains that coverage maps use operator predictions and can vary because of local conditions such as buildings, trees and terrain.
Which Vodafone-based network is best?
For cheap flexible plans
Start with Lebara and Talkmobile, then compare the live prices and data allowances.
For international calls
Lebara is particularly relevant because eligible plans include international minutes.
For European roaming
Lebara and Talkmobile currently have stronger included-roaming propositions than VOXI for many travellers. Check the exact fair-use allowance before buying.
For social media and streaming
VOXI stands out because eligible plans include unlimited data for selected social, music and video services.
For supermarket-linked extras and plan variety
Asda Mobile is worth comparing, especially if its current rewards or plan structure fit how you already shop and use your phone.
