Tesco Mobile SIM-only deals
Compare selected Tesco Mobile SIM-only deals on O2's network, including eligible Clubcard Price offers. Use the live cards to compare data, monthly payments, 12- or 24-month commitments and total contract costs. A Clubcard Price can protect your basic monthly charge during the minimum term; other tariffs follow different price-rise rules. Check local coverage and roaming before choosing.

Which Tesco Mobile SIM-only deal is right for you?
Tesco Mobile is worth considering if you want O2 coverage, eligible Clubcard Price savings or generous European roaming. It is less compelling if your main priority is a short commitment and you do not need Tesco-specific benefits.
Start with your circumstances:
| What matters most | Best starting point | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Predictable payments | Eligible Clubcard Price deals | The basic monthly usage charge is frozen during the minimum term. |
| Lower total commitment | 12-month SIM-only offers | Compare the full contract cost, including applicable annual rises. |
| Heavy data use | Larger allowances and unlimited | Check whether unlimited adds enough value over a smaller bundle. |
| Travelling in Europe | Plans with Home From Home | Covered destinations, UK allowance and fair-use conditions. |
| Freedom to switch soon | 30-day alternatives | A long contract can cost more to leave early. |
The live cards above show selected current Tesco offers. Use their contract totals and last-checked dates when comparing actual plans.
A sensible data allowance beats an impressive headline
Before buying, check your last three complete billing periods.
If you regularly stay well below your allowance, buying much more data may simply increase your bill.
If you repeatedly run out, a larger bundle may be cheaper than paying for additional data.
Unlimited data is most useful when your consumption is consistently high or difficult to predict. It should not be the automatic choice for someone who spends most of their time on Wi-Fi.
You can compare other unlimited SIM-only deals if Tesco's available options do not suit your budget.
Clubcard Prices: where Tesco Mobile's value comes from
Tesco Mobile offers selected pay-monthly SIM deals at Clubcard Prices.
The important benefit is not only the discounted monthly amount. Tesco also promises to freeze the basic monthly usage charge for the duration of the minimum contract period on eligible Clubcard Price deals.
A Tesco Clubcard number is required, but ordinary Clubcard membership is free.
You do not need to pay for Clubcard Plus to qualify for an eligible standard Clubcard Price.
Clubcard Price versus standard Tesco SIM
| Question | Eligible Clubcard Price | Standard non-Clubcard Price |
|---|---|---|
| Clubcard number required? | Yes | No |
| Basic monthly usage price frozen during minimum term? | Yes | No |
| Annual price increase during minimum term? | Not on the protected basic usage charge | Can apply each April |
| Additional usage and optional extras? | Can still be chargeable | Can still be chargeable |
| Price after minimum term? | Annual increases may apply | Applicable pricing rules continue |
Tesco explains these distinctions in its official pricing policy.
Does frozen mean your entire bill can never change?
No.
The Clubcard Price freeze applies to the eligible basic monthly usage charge.
It does not guarantee free international calls, premium numbers, additional data or optional services.
The protection also does not last indefinitely after the minimum contract period ends.
For non-Clubcard Price contracts taken out from 17 December 2024, Tesco says future annual increases during the minimum term are disclosed in pounds and pence at the point of sale.
Buying rule: Confirm the selected offer's Clubcard eligibility and price-rise terms at checkout. Do not assume every Tesco tariff receives the same protection.
Is a 24-month Tesco SIM actually better value than 12 months?
A longer contract may offer a more attractive monthly price, but it also limits your flexibility.
The right comparison depends on how long you realistically expect to stay.
For example, a £3 monthly saving across 24 months equals £72.
That could be worthwhile if you know the network works well and you are happy to keep the same service.
But the saving becomes less attractive if you expect to move house, change provider or need a different type of plan.
When comparing two offers:
- Choose plans with enough data for your usual needs.
- Compare the monthly payment and minimum contract period.
- Look at the full contract cost displayed in the cards.
- Account for any disclosed annual increases on non-Clubcard tariffs.
- Decide whether the saving justifies the longer commitment.
A 12-month contract total should not be compared directly with a 24-month total as though both cover the same period.
If flexibility matters more than a small monthly discount, compare 30-day rolling SIM-only deals.
Tesco Mobile coverage: O2, 5G and eSIM
Tesco Mobile operates on O2's UK network.
This means the suitability of Tesco depends heavily on O2 coverage where you live and spend time.
Before choosing a tariff, check your home, workplace and regular travel locations using Tesco's postcode coverage checker.
A national coverage figure cannot guarantee good indoor reception in a particular building.
Does Tesco Mobile have 5G?
Tesco offers 5G on compatible devices where the network and relevant service support it.
You may connect using 4G when 5G is unavailable.
Actual reception and performance depend on location, the device and network conditions.
Can you get a Tesco Mobile eSIM?
Yes. Tesco supports eSIM on compatible devices.
Check that your specific phone and selected service support the activation method you need.
Moving between a physical SIM and an eSIM may involve a SIM swap or additional activation steps.
See Tesco's official eSIM instructions.
If you are open to other networks, our eSIM deals comparison provides more options.
Is Tesco Mobile exactly the same as O2?
No.
Tesco uses O2's underlying network, but Tesco and O2 have different retail plans, prices and benefits.
Sharing a network does not mean that every service feature, speed condition or customer-support arrangement is identical.
If O2 reception is essential, compare O2-network SIM-only deals.
Home From Home: Tesco's European roaming advantage
Tesco Mobile currently offers Home From Home roaming in 48 destinations across the EU and beyond.
Customers can use their eligible UK data, minutes and texts in covered destinations without an additional roaming fee.
Tesco also says there is no separate numerical cap on how much of the UK allowance can be used in those destinations.
That is a significant distinction from plans that impose a smaller roaming-data allowance.
However, there are important conditions.
Your existing allowance still applies
A limited UK data plan does not become unlimited abroad.
If your allowance runs out, further usage may be chargeable.
Roaming fair use still applies
Home From Home is intended for UK-based customers travelling abroad.
Tesco may impose additional charges under its fair-usage policy where a customer spends more time or uses more allowances in covered destinations than in the UK and elsewhere.
Tesco says it will notify customers before applying a relevant surcharge.
International calls are different
Using your SIM while travelling in France is not the same as calling a French number from the UK.
Home From Home concerns eligible roaming usage. International calls made from the UK can have separate charges.
Before travelling, check Tesco's Home From Home destinations and conditions.
For alternatives, compare SIM-only plans with EU roaming.
Clubcard points: how much are they really worth?
Tesco Mobile customers can earn Clubcard points on eligible mobile spending.
Tesco's published pay-monthly rule is one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on the mobile bill, provided the Clubcard is linked appropriately.
This is a useful extra, but it should not be confused with a substantial reduction in the tariff price.
A practical example
Suppose your mobile bill is £20 per month.
At one point per £1, you would collect:
- 20 Clubcard points per month.
- 240 Clubcard points over 12 months.
Tesco's standard minimum to request a Clubcard voucher is 250 points.
So, in this example, a whole year of mobile spending alone would not yet reach the voucher threshold.
Points from ordinary Tesco shopping may help you reach it sooner.
This illustrates why Clubcard rewards should be treated as a modest additional benefit, not a reason to accept an unsuitable or substantially more expensive mobile contract.
Tesco explains how to collect and redeem rewards in its Clubcard points guidance.
How to avoid unexpected Tesco Mobile charges
One practical feature worth checking is Tesco's Safety Buffer.
This allows customers to control certain additional charges beyond their included allowances.
You can also set a zero bill cap.
With a zero bill cap, chargeable activities outside your allowances may be blocked rather than automatically added to your bill.
That can be helpful when choosing a SIM for a teenager, managing a tight budget or avoiding unexpected roaming costs.
However, a zero bill cap can also prevent chargeable calls, data or services that you might occasionally need.
Choose the setting deliberately rather than assuming it has no consequences.
Tesco explains what is restricted in its Safety Buffer guidance.
What about Family Perks?
Tesco offers additional benefits for eligible accounts with multiple lines.
Depending on the tariff and arrangement, Family Perks may include:
- Additional mobile data.
- A reduction in the monthly bill.
- Extra Clubcard points.
These benefits can make a multi-line arrangement more attractive for an existing Tesco Mobile household.
But a Family Perk is not automatically included with every individual SIM.
Some Tesco family products have their own contract structure and should be compared separately from the standard SIM-only offers above.
The useful calculation is the cost of the whole household arrangement after benefits you actually qualify for, not the maximum theoretical value of every advertised perk.
When another SIM provider could be better
Tesco is most attractive when its specific benefits match your needs.
But if you mainly want inexpensive mobile data, flexibility or international calling, it is worth examining alternatives.
Want a shorter commitment?
1pMobile offers rolling data bundles and may be worth comparing if you want flexibility.
It uses EE's network, not O2.
That means you should check coverage before switching from Tesco or another O2-based provider.
Looking for introductory offers or international calls?
Lyca Mobile offers different types of SIM-only plans, including options with promotional pricing or international-calling features.
Check the normal price after any promotional period, plus the exact countries and minutes included.
Lyca also uses EE's UK network, so it is not a like-for-like O2 coverage replacement.
Want to remain on O2's network?
Use the O2-network SIM comparison.
It lets you examine Tesco alongside O2-based alternatives without assuming that every provider has identical contract terms or roaming benefits.

Before switching: your final checklist
- Check O2 coverage at home, work and your regular destinations.
- Confirm the minimum contract term and any early-exit costs.
- Check whether the price is a Clubcard Price and what happens after the minimum term.
- Review your typical data use, not just the largest advertised allowance.
- Check roaming conditions if you travel outside the UK.
- Decide whether you want a Safety Buffer to limit additional spending.
- Transfer your number correctly if you want to keep it.
Tesco's switching guide explains how to move your existing number.
Tesco Mobile SIM-only FAQs
Do I need Clubcard Plus for a Clubcard Price?
No. Standard Tesco Clubcard membership is free and sufficient for an eligible Clubcard Price. Clubcard Plus is a separate paid subscription with different benefits.
Can I keep my mobile number?
Yes. You can transfer your existing UK mobile number by obtaining a PAC from your current provider and giving it to Tesco Mobile.
Can I get Tesco Mobile without a 12- or 24-month contract?
Tesco has other SIM, pay-as-you-go and family products with different arrangements. The standard individual offers tracked above are fixed-term contracts. If flexibility is essential, compare the exact terms of a rolling product rather than assuming every Tesco SIM has the same commitment.
