Which iD Mobile SIM-only deal is actually worth choosing?

Start with the shortest contract that comfortably covers your normal data use. A longer agreement is worth considering when it provides a meaningful saving or more data you will genuinely use.

With iD Mobile, a 24-month contract is not automatically the best-value option. Some rolling deals match longer contracts on both monthly price and data allowance.

The live offers above let you compare the current terms. The examples below show why checking all three contract lengths matters.

Same monthly price, different data and commitment

These examples were taken from DealPriceCheck's iD Mobile listings checked on 19 October 2026.

Three findings are particularly useful.

At £6, the rolling offer stood out. It provided more data than the 12-month option and matched the 24-month allowance. If the other terms are comparable, committing for two years delivers no obvious advantage.

At £10, a longer commitment bought more data. The difference between 70GB and 100GB could matter to a heavy user. But a customer using only 15GB every month gains little from paying for a much larger allowance.

For unlimited data, 12 and 24 months shared the same monthly price. Choosing 24 months solely to lower the bill would therefore make little sense unless another benefit justified the extra commitment.

One more detail deserves attention: the listings included 12-month plans offering both 40GB and 50GB for £8. Where their other conditions are equivalent, the 50GB offer is the better choice.

The buying rule: compare the amount of usable data and total minimum cost at each contract length. Do not assume that a longer contract must be cheaper.

Is a 30-day, 12-month or 24-month iD contract better?

Contract length determines how easily you can change your mind.

A rolling 30-day plan is useful if you are testing coverage, moving home or uncertain how much data you need. A longer contract can reward commitment with more data or a lower monthly charge, but may carry an early termination cost.

Consider the unlimited deals from the October snapshot:

The 12-month option would cost £36 less over a year than keeping the £20 rolling plan for all 12 months.

The 24-month option would require an additional year of commitment without reducing the monthly price compared with the 12-month offer in this snapshot.

These figures assume the stated monthly rates apply throughout the periods shown. Promotional price changes, upfront charges or other adjustments must be considered separately when applicable.

A practical decision rule

• New to iD or uncertain about reception? Consider a 30-day plan.
• Confident about coverage and likely to stay a year? Compare 12-month pricing and allowances.
• Thinking about 24 months? Check whether the extra commitment actually improves the deal.
• Choosing unlimited? First check whether a large fixed allowance would already cover your usage.

If flexibility is your main requirement, compare rolling 30-day SIM deals before committing for a year or more.

What features make iD Mobile different?

iD Mobile combines data rollover, 5G, eSIM, Wi-Fi Calling and bill controls with a choice of contract lengths.

The right features depend on how you use your phone. A 5G plan offers little additional benefit on a 4G-only device, while data rollover may be valuable to someone whose monthly use varies considerably.

iD Mobile data rollover explained

Unused eligible data rolls into the next month and is used before your new allowance. It cannot accumulate indefinitely.

Suppose you have a 15GB plan and use 9GB during one month:

1. You finish with 6GB unused.
2. That 6GB carries into the next month.
3. You could start the next month with 21GB available: the 6GB rollover plus your new 15GB allowance.
4. Any of that rolled-over amount still unused at the end of the second month expires.

This helps if you occasionally need more data than usual.

But rollover is not the same as getting money back. You already paid for the unused allowance. If you consistently use only a small part of a large plan, switching to a lower-data tariff may save more.

Does iD Mobile use Three or Vodafone?

iD Mobile is based on Three's network. Following the Vodafone–Three merger, some customers can also benefit from shared network infrastructure as upgrades are introduced.

The merger created VodafoneThree in June 2025. Its network-sharing technology allows supported connections to use infrastructure from both networks automatically in areas where the changes have been deployed.

As explained by iD Mobile, customers do not need to select another operator manually to benefit from those improvements.

However, that does not mean every iD customer immediately receives unrestricted access to the entire Vodafone and Three networks everywhere.

How to check whether iD will work for you

Before choosing a lengthy contract:

1. Enter your postcode into iD Mobile's coverage checker.
2. Check home, work and the places you regularly visit.
3. Pay attention to indoor reception, not only outdoor predictions.
4. If you remain uncertain, reduce the commitment by considering a rolling plan.

If you already know the underlying network works for you, explore other Three-network SIM deals.

If Three reception has been poor, another Three-based plan may not solve the problem. You may instead want to compare EE-based alternatives, including 1pMobile.

How much iD Mobile data can you use abroad?

For new iD Mobile contracts, the standard inclusive roaming-data limit is up to 30GB per month in eligible Roam Free destinations — or your available domestic allowance if that is lower.

This distinction is important.

A 15GB UK plan does not automatically provide an additional 30GB of roaming data. It normally lets you use your available UK allowance abroad, subject to the applicable roaming rules. Eligible rollover and add-ons can affect the total amount available.

What the 30GB limit means

The operator's policy generally specifies a surcharge of £3 per GB after the 30GB inclusive limit on plans that permit additional roaming data. Further out-of-bundle charges may apply according to the tariff and usage.

Why does some iD information mention unlimited roaming data?

An older notice on iD's fair-usage page describes a temporary promotion that lifted the 30GB restriction.

However, in an official community response on 2 October 2026, an iD employee confirmed that the promotion had previously applied and that customers taking out new contracts should expect the standard 30GB limit.

The operator's published pay-monthly terms also specify the standard limit.

The official fair-usage policy lists Ireland as an exception to the particular fair-use rule and explains that older customers can have different conditions depending on when they joined or upgraded.

Roam Free is intended for occasional travel by UK residents. Extended use abroad can trigger additional fair-usage rules.

Roaming is also different from international calling. Making calls from the UK to another country is not automatically included because a destination appears in Roam Free.

Does iD Mobile increase SIM-only prices each year?

iD Mobile advertises no scheduled annual price rises on SIM-only plans.

That removes one common concern associated with contracts containing predetermined yearly increases. But it does not mean every possible charge is permanently fixed.

Before buying, distinguish between:

• The standard monthly charge.
• Any temporary promotional discount and the price afterwards.
• Charges for out-of-allowance use.
• Optional add-ons or other paid services.
• The minimum commitment and potential early termination charges.

Can you prevent extra charges with a Bill Cap?

iD lets customers set a Bill Cap, including a £0 limit for qualifying out-of-plan spending.

That can help avoid unexpected usage charges. However, normal monthly line rental and certain extras, such as add-ons or paper billing, are not included in the cap.

Does iD Mobile support eSIM, 5G and Wi-Fi Calling?

Yes, on compatible equipment and where the relevant service is available.

eSIM: iD supports digital SIM activation on compatible mobile phones. Its eSIM service is not currently intended for tablets or wearables.

To make an initial compatibility check, dial `*#06#` on your phone. An EID generally indicates eSIM capability, although iD compatibility should still be confirmed.

5G: a compatible device and suitable local coverage are required. Actual speeds depend on network conditions.

Wi-Fi Calling: can help you make calls in places where mobile reception is poor, provided your device and Wi-Fi connection support it.

Tethering: may be useful for connecting another device through your phone. If you rely heavily on a hotspot, compare 100GB-plus SIM deals before automatically choosing an unlimited plan.

When is another SIM provider the better choice?

iD Mobile is worth considering if you want data rollover, large allowances and different contract lengths on Three-based service.

But it is not automatically the best fit for every buyer.

These are different choices, not interchangeable versions of the same service.

SMARTY is relevant if you want to compare another Three-based payment model. 1pMobile is more relevant if EE-based coverage is important. Lyca may be worth exploring when your specific international calling destination is included in a suitable plan.

The deciding factor should be the service you need, its usable allowance and its total cost.

How to switch to iD Mobile and keep your number

You can normally move your existing UK mobile number to iD without cancelling it manually first.

1. Text PAC to 65075 from your current number.
2. Your existing provider will send your Porting Authorisation Code and switching information.
3. Choose a suitable iD deal from the offer cards above.
4. Once your new connection is ready, submit the PAC to iD.
5. The number transfer should normally take place within one working day after a valid request is submitted, according to the confirmed schedule.

If you want to leave your existing provider without keeping the number, text STAC to 75075 instead.

Leaving a minimum-term contract early can still trigger an early termination charge.

Also remember that iD pay-monthly SIM-only plans require a credit check, including rolling 30-day contracts. A short minimum term does not make them equivalent to no-credit-check PAYG products.

Are 30-day iD Mobile deals good value?

They can be. Some dated examples show rolling plans matching or beating longer contracts at the same monthly price. Compare the current allowance and total commitment before choosing.

Does an iD 15GB plan include 30GB of roaming data?

Not automatically. The standard 30GB figure is a fair-use ceiling. Your available domestic data allowance, eligible rollover and the applicable roaming terms determine what you can actually use.

Does iD Mobile have unlimited-data SIM-only deals?

Yes. iD offers unlimited UK data on different contract lengths. Inclusive roaming remains subject to separate limits.

Does iD Mobile use Vodafone signal after the merger?

It can benefit from automatic network sharing in upgraded areas, but nationwide unrestricted dual-network access should not be assumed.

Do all iD SIM-only plans need a credit check?

Pay-monthly SIM-only applications require a credit check, including 30-day contracts. Separate prepaid products have different conditions.

Final verdict: should you choose iD Mobile?

iD Mobile is a worthwhile option when its coverage suits you and you want a choice of rolling or longer SIM-only contracts, particularly if data rollover is useful.

The most important decision is not which plan advertises the most gigabytes.

First, confirm coverage. Next, choose a realistic data allowance. Then compare the same price across the different contract lengths and check the total minimum commitment.

If a rolling plan offers nearly the same value as a two-year agreement, keeping flexibility may be the smarter purchase.

If you are confident about the network and a longer contract delivers a substantial benefit, the commitment may be justified.
