Three Network SIM Deals
Compare SIM-only deals from Three, SMARTY and iD Mobile, alongside Vodafone + Three shared-network offers. For conventional Three-based providers, select Three in the Network filter. Then compare total cost, coverage, roaming and contract terms: shared radio access does not make every provider's service identical.

The important distinction: Three network or VodafoneThree shared access?
A SIM from Three, SMARTY or iD Mobile is a straightforward way to shop for service traditionally based on Three's network. You may also see cards labelled “Vodafone + Three” in this comparison. Those reflect shared-network classifications; they should not be mistaken for a promise that every brand has exactly the same network access, service features or commercial terms.
Vodafone UK and Three UK merged in June 2025. Network sharing is allowing eligible customers to use radio infrastructure from both businesses, with improvements continuing to roll out. VodafoneThree explicitly identifies Three, Vodafone, SMARTY, VOXI and Talkmobile among its brands benefiting from that sharing. iD Mobile separately confirms that its customers can use both networks in upgraded areas. Neither statement establishes identical access at every postcode for every SIM, nor does it automatically establish the position of other resellers. VodafoneThree's network-sharing explanation and iD Mobile's merger FAQ explain the distinction.
How to use the cards: the Network → Three filter is the simplest way to focus on Three, SMARTY and iD offers. Without it, a competitively priced Talkmobile or VOXI plan labelled “Vodafone + Three” may appear ahead of them. Those are legitimate shared-network comparisons, but not interchangeable with a conventional Three-based plan. For either category, check the provider's postcode coverage and plan features.
Three, SMARTY or iD Mobile: which is the better buy?
There is no universal winner. The best-value plan is the one with enough usable data, a reliable connection where you spend time and the fewest paid-for features you will never use.
| If this matters most | Start by comparing | The trade-off worth checking |
|---|---|---|
| Buying directly from the main network | Three | Check the total contract cost, applicable annual increases, roaming charges and whether Three+ rewards matter to you. |
| A simple, flexible monthly arrangement | SMARTY, then rolling iD offers | SMARTY advertises rolling plans and no annual price rises. Its standard EU roaming has a fair-use limit, so flexibility at home is not the whole story. |
| Keeping unused data and getting inclusive roaming | iD Mobile | iD offers data rollover and roaming in eligible destinations. Check the plan's usable roaming data, fair-use rules and commitment. |
| The smallest initial monthly payment | All current live cards | A temporary promotional rate or a longer agreement can cost more over your actual period of use. |
| Getting coverage in a difficult location | Check coverage first, then shortlist providers | VodafoneThree network sharing is evolving; the best signal on paper is not a guarantee of indoor performance. |
When Three itself makes sense
Buying from Three directly can be reasonable if you want its own account experience, a particular plan or benefits attached to an eligible Three subscription, including Three+ offers. That does not make a direct Three SIM automatically faster or better value than SMARTY or iD. Some plans have their own speed limits, even with 5G access: check the tariff's cap alongside coverage and the possible April increase. Our guide to UK SIM speed caps explains why a 5G badge alone is not enough.
When SMARTY deserves the first look
SMARTY is a useful starting point when you want a straightforward rolling plan without a long minimum commitment. Its currently advertised range highlights no annual price rises, 5G where available, Wi-Fi Calling and eSIM options. That can make a short trial appealing if you have not used the network before. As checked on 19 October 2026, SMARTY's published standard EU roaming terms allow up to 12GB per plan month, subject to your UK allowance and other conditions. It is not unlimited roaming just because the UK plan has unlimited data. Check the selected plan and destination before buying. See current SMARTY options and SMARTY's roaming terms.
When iD Mobile may be the stronger choice
iD Mobile is particularly worth comparing if you value data rollover, eSIM and inclusive roaming as well as price. As checked on 19 October 2026, iD advertises inclusive roaming in 50 destinations and a 30GB monthly roaming cap for customers who joined or upgraded from 21 June 2023. Older customers have different published fair-use arrangements. The cap is not extra data: a 15GB UK plan does not become a 30GB roaming plan, even if a deal card displays “EU roaming: 30GB”. Unused monthly data can roll into the following billing period once, then expires. Check the exact offer, destination, fair-use terms and any price-change disclosure before signing. Compare iD Mobile deals, iD's official fair-use rules and its rollover explanation.
The calculation that catches a misleading “cheap” deal
The first month's figure is not necessarily the price you will pay across a year. Compare the full cost over your intended time with the provider, not just the shortest minimum term shown on a card. A rolling SIM's one-month minimum cost cannot be compared directly with a 12-month plan's minimum contract cost; put both on the same time horizon first.
For example, consider two hypothetical 12-month offers:
- Plan A: £5 per month for three months, followed by £12 for nine months = £123.
- Plan B: £10 every month for 12 months = £120.
Plan A looks half the price at first glance but costs £3 more over the year. These are illustrations, not current Three, SMARTY or iD prices. For an actual deal, add the introductory months, subsequent monthly payments, any increases expected during your comparison period and compulsory upfront costs. Deduct cashback or vouchers only if you qualify and are willing to complete the redemption steps; do not treat conditional rewards as guaranteed savings.
For any real offer, check four things before using View Deal:
- Introductory price and end date. Does the lower figure end after a few months or require a particular payment method?
- Minimum term. Is it rolling monthly, 12 months or 24 months? Could leaving early trigger charges?
- Annual price changes. Are increases excluded for this particular product or scheduled within the contract? Three's published rules for relevant agreements include fixed April increases that depend on the data band. Other providers and older contracts may have different rules.
- Extra costs. Could roaming, out-of-allowance use or another feature change the amount you actually pay?
The “minimum contract cost” on a one-month rolling card describes a different obligation from the overall cost of keeping it for a year. On a 12- or 24-month deal, check whether the stated minimum-term figure includes every contractual rise. See our guide to UK SIM-only price rises for a fuller explanation. Three's current advertised SIM-only terms describe fixed April increases by data band, but the precise rule depends on the agreement date; use Three's current SIM-only terms and your contract summary rather than applying a historical cohort's figures to a new deal.
Coverage comes before your data allowance
If your existing Three-based SIM works well indoors, at work and along your usual journeys, another Three-based deal is a sensible shortlist candidate. But if you are switching because your signal is poor, changing the logo on your bill may not solve the problem—even when the new provider has an attractive headline price.
Use Ofcom's Map Your Mobile checker to compare predicted indoor and outdoor 4G/5G coverage around your home and regular locations. Then check the new provider's own postcode checker. Predictions cannot fully account for your building, handset or congestion. Where practical, a rolling SIM and an actual signal test in the places you use it are more informative than a nationwide coverage claim.
What the VodafoneThree merger changes—and what it doesn't
Sharing masts and radio spectrum can improve coverage for eligible users, and iD and SMARTY describe benefits from the integration. However, the services still have separate brands, pricing, features and support. A 5G badge does not guarantee a particular speed; network capacity, the phone, the tariff and the location all matter. If 5G performance is your main buying reason, see our guide to MVNO coverage and speeds before assuming two plans will perform identically.
An older phone also deserves a check: Three has retired its 3G service, so a device that cannot make supported calls over 4G may be unsuitable even if it can use some mobile data. Confirm 4G Calling/VoLTE support with the provider for your exact handset model. This matters especially for an older handset bought outside the UK.
Roaming, eSIM and data: three details that change the recommendation
Roaming is a provider decision, not a network benefit
Do not assume all Three-network providers offer the same EU allowance. iD and SMARTY publish different roaming arrangements, while some direct Three plans require a pass or daily payment depending on the plan and contract date. The distinction also matters for a short trip: a plan with a slightly higher UK monthly price can be better overall if it avoids the roaming charges you would otherwise incur. Conversely, paying more for roaming you never use is wasted money.
For example, if you expect to use 20GB of data during an EU trip, SMARTY's standard 12GB fair-use allowance, as published at the October 2026 check, would not cover that entire amount without considering a suitable extra option. An eligible current iD plan may allow the full 20GB within its published 30GB cap if your UK allowance is at least 20GB. For an iD 15GB UK plan, the UK allowance—not the advertised 30GB roaming ceiling—would limit how much inclusive data you could use. Check the destination and terms before treating either outcome as guaranteed. This is why an apparently cheaper UK tariff is not always the cheaper travel tariff.
If you travel, check the destination, the usable data allowance abroad, call and text coverage, fair-use restrictions and whether a pass or charge applies. A blank roaming badge in a comparison feed is not proof that the provider has no allowance: verify the published policy, especially for SMARTY's standard EU terms. Roaming while abroad is not the same as calling an overseas number from the UK. For a broader comparison, see SIM deals with EU roaming.
eSIM and Wi-Fi Calling need a compatibility check
An eSIM badge means an appropriate electronic SIM option is recorded for that offer; it does not guarantee that your handset and every activation route will be supported. Similarly, sharing radio infrastructure does not automatically give every virtual operator the same Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, 5G or account features. Check the exact plan and phone model, particularly if you rely on indoor calling. If eSIM is essential, the UK eSIM comparison lets you widen the shortlist.
Don't pay for unlimited if a fixed allowance will do
Look at the previous two or three months of data use. A moderate allowance with some headroom can suit messaging, navigation, music and ordinary browsing, while frequent video streaming or tethering may justify more. Unlimited plans are worth comparing when your usage is genuinely high or unpredictable—but check any speed policy, permitted usage and minimum term, not just the word “unlimited”. See current unlimited SIM deals if data capacity is your main priority.
A practical route from comparison to purchase
- Check coverage at home, work and another location you regularly visit.
- Use the live filters above for your data requirement, budget, commitment and any essential 5G/eSIM/roaming feature.
- Compare at least two plausible offers, including the full-year cost if you expect to stay that long. Do not treat a 30-day minimum as a promise to keep today's price indefinitely.
- Open Full plan details for the plan-level information recorded by DealPriceCheck, then View Deal to confirm the current provider terms and complete your purchase. Those two buttons have different purposes; the provider is the final authority on eligibility, price and availability.

Questions about Three-network SIM deals
Which providers use the Three network?
Three itself, SMARTY and iD Mobile are the clearest starting points in this comparison. The wider provider picture, including less-common operators and VodafoneThree's changing shared access, is covered in Who uses Three's network?. The deal cards here reflect the site's current selection, not every UK seller.
Is SMARTY the same as Three?
No. SMARTY is a separate consumer brand that uses Three's network and participates in VodafoneThree network-sharing improvements. It sets its own plans, prices, roaming terms and customer experience. A shared network does not make the two subscriptions identical.
Does iD Mobile use Three or Vodafone?
iD Mobile has traditionally used Three's network. Following the VodafoneThree merger, iD says eligible customers can automatically connect through either network in upgraded areas. The extent of that benefit still depends on the rollout and local conditions.
Why are some cards labelled “Vodafone + Three”?
DealPriceCheck also records certain offers with a shared-network classification. Such a label signals a different position from a straightforward Three-only listing; it does not prove equal access or features across every brand. Check the provider's own coverage information and the specific plan terms if the distinction matters to you.
Can I get a Three-network SIM on a rolling one-month plan?
Yes, subject to current availability. The live catalogue includes providers that offer rolling monthly SIMs. Use the Contract filter and check cancellation rules and any upfront charge before buying.
Is a Three-network SIM always cheaper than a Three SIM bought directly?
No. MVNOs can undercut the main network, but introductory promotions, data amounts, renewal prices and features change the comparison. The fair test is the total cost over your intended usage period and the services you actually need.
Do Three-network SIM deals all include 5G, eSIM and EU roaming?
No. Support depends on the provider, the plan, device compatibility and any applicable fair-use conditions. Check each card and the provider's current terms; no network affiliation guarantees an identical feature bundle.
Does Three still operate a 3G mobile network?
No. Three has retired its 3G service. An older 4G phone may still need compatible 4G Calling (VoLTE) to make normal voice calls. Ask the provider to verify your specific model if you are unsure.
Can I keep my number when switching to a Three-based provider?
Usually, yes. For a standard UK mobile switch, request a PAC from your current provider by texting PAC to 65075, then give it to your new provider. If you do not want to retain the number, the STAC route is available. Ask the operators about any special procedure when moving between brands that share account or migration systems. Ofcom's switching guidance explains the standard process.
